Preparing for a Career in Health Care

Welcome to the Pre-Health page for students at Missouri S&T. We provide comprehensive advising and resources to guide you through every step of preparing for a rewarding career in health care.

The S&T Experience

The pre-health pathway does not require a specific major but does involve substantial coursework including:

  • Chemistry: One year of organic chemistry is required.
  • Biology: One to one and a half years, with a strong foundation in anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology highly recommended.
  • Physics: One year.

Pre-health students are encouraged to take elective courses in areas like philosophy, psychology, and history to broaden their academic foundation. Additionally, experiential learning is crucial for success. Students should actively engage in activities such as volunteering, accumulating patient contact hours, and developing leadership skills.
